Tendering and BREXIT: Updates

Keep up with the changes necessary to tender successfully in a post-BREXIT world

BREXIT is coming, probably on 31st October 2019 - this event will bring changes to tendering for contracts?

The government has already passed a Statutory Instrument which makes a number of changes to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The UK is an Observer Member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) by virtue of its EU membership. In March 2019 the body which governs the Agreement on Government Procurement within the WTO, known as the GPA, approved the membership of the UK immediately upon BREXIT with no deal in place, and at a negotiated date in the event that a deal is in place on the leaving date.

GPA membership will make significant changes to tendering, but more importantly to increased competition from suppliers from the USA, Canada, etc. which will drive what it will take to tender successful tendering in the future. As UK tendering professionals living in the USA we are uniquely placed to help British suppliers understand and compete with the huge range and number of new offers which will enter the market, post BREXIT. WE already know of numerous companies plpanniing to take advantage of the £300bn which the UK spends on purchasing each year.
